Buschbananen-Dreaming

Dargestellt sind Frauen und Mädchen, die eine Buschbananen-Zeremonie abhalten. Die zwei Frauen sitzen am Feuer (Mitte konzentrischer Kreis), die vier Mädchen etwas abseits, alle haben einen Grabstock vor sich liegen, der bei der Zeremonie als Tanzstab dient. Die Buschbananen – Ranken, Blüten und Früchte – sind im Untergrund des Bildes in einer symbolisierten Landschaft dargestellt.

Dwě žeńskej sedatej pśi wognju (srjejź koncentriskego krejza), styri źowća pitśku na boku, wšykne maju ryjucy kij pśed sobu lažecy, kenž słužy pla ceremonije ako rejowański kij. Buš-banany – wijanki, kwiśonki a płody – su pśedstajone w pódzemi wobraza w symboliskej krajinje.

Bushbanana Dreaming

The painting depicts women and girls performing a Bush Banana Ceremony. Two women are sitting by the fire (centred within a concentric circle), while the four girls sit a bit further away. Each of them has a digging stick in front of them, which is used as a dance stick during the ceremony. The bush bananas – vines, flowers, and fruits – are represented in the background, symbolizing the landscape.
